OK, so real LDN heads know exactly who @iamfakeblood is, if not, peep this mix of rare breaks to get schooled. When this dude says he didn’t use reissues, CD’s, mp3′s etc, he means it. He’s an O.G. digger, still found in dusty vinyl spots to this day and Bona fide B-Boy. Hell, I used to present a radio show with him, he was the original All City Show DJ. T, thanks for taking it back like only you can.

It’s been a minute or two since we brought you an update on America’s war against drugs. But don’t think for a bloodclot second that we’ve stopped trying to ‘find every second rate rap record from the 80′s that nobody ever listened to at the time and don’t particularly sound very good today’, as one previous commenter kindly put it. Our search is tireless.
The Poetry Boys effort to get people to stop taking lovely drugs is so obscure they probably weren’t even aware they made it. It’s produced by Jeremiah Yisrael, who was on the boards for the excellent ‘Missy Missy Dee’ by Missy Dee and the Melody Crew (dude also produced a track on the flip of the massively collectable disco heater ‘Invisible Wind’ by Jackie Stoudemire (on this same TAP label), and that’s all we know. Shame, he had some chops.

Robbie Rob didn’t think outside the bird when it came to naming himself or his anti-crack tirade. He also didn’t bother to write more than one verse, a chorus or break the track down in any way. Call us bummers, but we still like it.

To all intents and purposes – a few notable artisans aside – the double vinyl LP has disappeared as an artform. If something even makes it to that somewhat obsolete format these days, it’s a surprise. Bad news. Or good news if it frees up more money to spend on vintage unlistenable 1986 drum machine rap, which is how the Fat Lace famalam get down retail-wise. But the shelves still need feeding, and ours are hungry for the long-awaited ‘All Cuts Recorded Raw’ LP by Phill Most Chill, courtesy of the curators at Diggers With Gratitude.

Phill, known to some as Soulman, to some as Baritone Tiplove and to others as ‘Phill Most Chill’, is the man behind the brilliant and hard-to-find ‘On Tempo Jack’ (1988, In Effect, don’t worry there’s a reissue) and DWG’s first release, 2006′s retro-fest ‘Be Intelligent EP’ (sorry, that’s going to cost you £300). ‘All Cuts Recorded Raw’, dropping any day now, ploughs the same archives to brilliant effect. This isn’t hip-hop we’re supposed to think is good because it’s vintage – it’s amazingly good vintage hip-hop from an artist that deserved to be better known at the time. Of course, it comes with the classic DWG attention to the package. Gatefold artwork, quality vinyl, a CD with an alternative track listing. Cop yours HERE NOW and peep the cuts below – a snippet of LP track ‘Phill Most Chill on the hype tip’ and – not on the LP and a Fat Lace exclusive right now – a variant remix of ‘Pride’. Phill Most Chill? Ill.

Nasty Nas retracts his previous statement that ‘Hip-Hop Is Dead’ (a single which featured Will I Am) to return with a notable Salaam Remi produced heater which quite frankly made our willies go hard. Let’s face it, he’s one of a handful of G.O.A.T. rappers that are still alive so every single scrap of quality output by him should be cherished. So wave your Henney and Blunts in the air.

We also want to take this opportunity to say Fat Lace is not dead either. We’ve just been mad fucking busy and will post some ill shit very soon. Put it this way, we got twelve Freaky Fridays and twenty odd Westwood tapes yet to be posted but as you know, when we come, we come correct. Hold tight players.
