Pop’s Rap
We once had the pleasure of talking to R.A the Rugged Man’s dad on the phone, back when we were pestering one of our favourite rappers and NY hotel-room sharers on Fat Lace deadline day. He passed away recently, hence us upping this video of RA courtesy of artofrhyme. Some nice show footage interspersed with an interview with Staff Sgt. John A. Thorburn. RA dropped a killer verse about his Dad’s experiences in Vietnam on Jedi Mind Tricks’ ‘Uncommon Valor’, so peep that too. RIP.

I’ve always thought R.A.’s verse on Uncommon Valor was one of the finest verses ever. It’s simply breathtaking.
One of the greatest rappers alive. This just confirms it.
Has anybody ever chopped R.A’s verse out of this mess? It doesn’t seem right that such greatness by R.A is prefixed by Vinnie fucking Paz.
What’s that Black Market Militia tune R.A’s on? His verse on that is ridiculous n all.
What Brian said. It’s amazing that Vinnie has been part of some really great posse cuts, because he’s a one-trick-pony and it’s not even a good trick.
