That night was one of my best Hip Hop nights to date.. me and my homegirl didn`t choose we hit both!! We took train, bus and did some serious stepping..to get from west to west end..some friends of ours were putting on the Leaders Jam..we hadn`t predicted how unorganised they would be as promoters, got to Shaftsbury`s and Leaders hadn`t come on yet..they didn`t go on till 3am!! Always remeber Charlie Brown doing some crazy freestyle bout a girl in the crowd in a red dress!! Maaan that was a night!!

I think Mecca has the classic genre defining track, and it's a more important record but, for my own personal tastes, Main Ingredient bumps along at a much nicer pace and consistency. It's a more smoked-out album compared to Mecca's tight sunshine funkiness. Like I was saying, they're both all-time classic albums. Main Ingredient pips it by a bawhair for me, though.

Oh, and that'd be hilarious if it was Skinny Man getting cussed out. I really hope that's true.

My mate was there, standing near a very well known, er, "not fat" english rapper who, by the sounds of it, may well have been the target of the "wanker" shouts.....

Main Ingredient better than Mecca? Come on...

1 - Mecca & The Soul Brother
2 - Soul Brother #1
3 - TROY
4 - It's Like That
5 - Act Like You Know

I saw them back in 1992 at the Hammersmith Palais. It was on the same night as label mates Leaders of the New School were playing over at Shaftesbury's in the West End. You basically had to choose between the two. Mc Mello supported Pete Rock and CL Smooth and, as far as I remember, it was a great show.

1) TROY
2) GOOD LIFE
3) CREATOR
4) I GOT A LOVE
5) THE BASEMENT
