Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth Interview & Rare Tracks

Our boy Dan Greenpiss interviewed Peter and Corey as well as dropping a load of rarities last week for his show over at Spine Magazine but props to Nah Right for showing love too HERE.

Here’s the video of T.R.O.Y. again. Apparently the ‘Wanker’ comment was aimed at Skinnyman but we didn’t exactly hear that from Reuters.

    Yeah, a good listen.

Dan’s right about their ’04 London reunion show : it had grown men in tears of joy.

Still wanna know about their bitter fall-out after that and how they ended up squashing their beef, though.

On a Pete related note, the Deda LP >>>>> the INI LP.

The Deda LP’s good, but it can’t fuck with ‘Fakin’ Jax,’ ‘Props,’ and ‘Grown Man Sport’ from the INI record. The three of them have to be up there with my favourite non-CL Smooth Pete Rock beats.

I’m wondering if anyone out there has a recording of that 2k4 Jazz Cafe show? I listened to an entire recording of it on the radio just after it happened. It was either Radio 1 or 1 Xtra. There must be a copy of it flying around cyber-space, surely? It sounded incredible.

Meh, INI were incredibly boring rappers, while Deda had character.

Blah Uno, Baby Pa and, best of all, Nothing More are THE shit.

we just need a gang starr reunion show now, complete with jeru, group home, big shug and bumpy knuckles. Nice & Smooth supporting. Can you arrange that fatlace crew?

That Spine interview was special, some good questions raised Greenpeace.
Will they ever record as a group again?

enjoyed the memories around ‘cl strikes again’ cut from the OG Westwood/Marley rap exchange sessions..i have that tape also, with the 1st Intelligent Hoodlum songs and previewing the Craig G ‘kingpin’ cuts..ahh memories….much respect on a great piece of work!

btw. Deda’s album smashes any of the INI cuts just on rhymes alone on some of Pete Rock’s best beats since the 1st album. And ‘props’ by Rob O is the best by far. classic since we heard that back in 92!

    peace to fatlace.
