For the uninitiated. Bob Sinclar is a French DJ who spent the entire period between 2005 and 2007 releasing one piss-weak, tinny-sounding, “two for one on all Sea Breezes” promotion at Edwards’ single a week. And now, for some unknown reason, in the middle of 2009, a) he’s back and b) he’s brought the Sugar Hill Gang with him, who now apparently have a member called “Hen Dogg”. Apparently they think they’re too good for those Here and Now retro tours packing the audiences in at provincial towns nationwide. As if “Lala Song” is a more productive way for them to spend their time than, say, tearing the stage up with Go West and Owen Paul.
There really is no need for you to listen to the song (which, unsurprisingly, is appalling on every identifiable level) before it stalls at #17 in the charts, but the video at least raises two points of concern. Firstly is that the quality of video hoes really has gone down the pan in recent times, as evidenced by those Pipettes-lookin’ bitches who first turn up at 0:23. This is seemingly part of a trend for rap videos to focus mainly on assless white girls (cf the equally dreadful video for Teriyaki Boyz ft Pharrell’s “Work That” which is like dying and going to American Apparel). It says something when the six-year-old cheerleaders in this video actually have better tits than the damn models.
Secondly, talking of large breasts, we doubt you can really make anyone your #1 draft pick for your dead pool team next year other than Wonder Mike. You MAY be thinking Ted Kennedy, Bobby Robson, Patrick Swayze… and then you see this video. Dude is dressed like Nate Dogg filing for bankruptcy and looks kinda like South Park Mexican passed out unconscious and someone decided it’d be funny to draw a goatee beard on him. If he makes it to 2011 without dying or undergoing some intensive bypass surgery, we will listen to this song again. That’s how sure we are he’s gonna go.
In summary: nearly as good as the Liberty X track with Reverend Run.

I don’t hate this at all. It’s kinda cool to see the SHG doing a song more or less in their traditional style. It’d be nice if they could’ve worked out some differences and wrangled Hank for this; but whatever.

Not exactly that cd ep of those unreleased Spoonie Gee tracks which came out last year.
I thought Bob Sinclair was the dude from Saint Ettiene.
