Westwood Wednesdays #20
Wow, we’ve seriously neglected the vintage Big Dawg for a minute so what are we gonna do? Talk about Asher Roth? No, that’s tomorrow. There’s a cracking break to the beat this week, one of our favourites of all time in fact, Foster Sylvers’ ‘Misdemeanor’. Call in on 484-5255 and you could win yourself a pair of EPMD ‘So Watcha Sayin’ slipmats. Now that’s a prize worth calling in for. The winner from Deptford provides much hilarity as does Tim’s pronunciations of the De La Soul trio. We almost wish they were called Dear La Soul. There’s also music from Chill Rob G, MC Lyte’s ‘Cha Cha Cha’ and BDP’s ‘You Must Learn’ live. Curly and Ricky beef? Who cares when you’ve got audio like this. Who cares anyway?

Yo! I wondered who stole my foster sylvers 7″! Only kidding. Props for having that classic right there on 45.
Westwood still calls De La “Dear La” and of course Tupac ‘Too-Park” and Nas, um “Nas” like it should be, not”Nars” like the yanks call him.
Misdemeanor, a break so great that even Eric B rapping over it on Love Trap from his solo LP couldn’t taint it.
That Marley remix of Eye No is nuts. Did that ever come out?
Haven’t got to it yet but Lethal Weapon into Massacre looks like good times.
It’s one of the best breaks ever, but someone has tainted it lately, those spcaey dudes that Kanye likes, can’t even remember their names, the Dilla wannabe’s who had a 12″ out on G.O.O.D., they just put out a 7″ with the worst abuse of ‘misdemeanor’ ever, they should be shot for making it. I’ll try and find a link to it.
here it is, down the bottom, awefull and the b-side’s even worse, who buys this bullshit?

Brian’s right about that Marley remix. Westwood must have 100 DWG style EP’s worth of unreleased Marley shit, remember that juice crew christmas rap too? I had the compilation tape of all my Westwood/marley exclusives stolen from my car in Salford back in ’94 and some c*nt taped over my originals. There was loads of shit I never heard anywhere else, crazy versions of tracks that came out.
