Rapper’s Retirement Homes #18

It’s only natural that the Italian island of Capri, off the Amalfi coast, has got shops owned by former rappers and singers. After all, the island was colonised by Kid Capri in 1968, who runs the place like a private fiefdom, while his mate Silver D is lord(s of funk) mayor of the more sedate town of Anacapri. They try to keep out scum like the Fat Lace crew by pricing beer at about £8 a pint while a coke will cost you £5, but they don’t know how deep our pockets are. Scared money don’t make none. As for D’Angelo’s shop, he’s in the business of high end footwear. So if you’re ‘Cruisin’ the street and ‘If you want something’ feel free to pop in. If your ‘Lady’ is like ours (‘She’s always in my hair’) she’ll want some nice footwear, and D’Angelo caters for both ‘Left and Right’ feet, and has built-up heels for those ladies who want to be ‘Higher’. It’s a great turnaround for D’Angelo who previously tried this spot as a cafe serving ‘Devil’s Pie’ made largely with ‘Brown Sugar’ but found the place was unsuccessful because of the pervading smell of ‘Chicken Grease’. He then tried it as a ‘Spanish joint’ but knew nothing about Spanish food. Hence, shoes.

    Heh. Bravo.

I never thought we’d see a new Portishead album and possible release dates for Detox and even fucking Chinese Democracy by Guns ‘N’ Roses before this dude finally drops a follow up to Voodoo (top 5 album of any genre so far this decade).
