Busta Rhymes feat Lil Wayne & Ludacris – Throw It Up (Update)

July 4th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Just to explain, earlier today we posted this track after we were officially serviced by a popular on-line DJ pool. We thought, OK, the Yanks are basking in the fact that they beat us in the Second World War, or something, so we’ll catch them off guard and post up the hottest track on the net before they do. We’ll beat them at their own game and get a bit of traffic for the site in the process. Job done.

So we pop out to Nando’s for a quick bite to eat then get a call from Rawkus HQ saying Busta and the Senior Vice President of Interscope want us to take down the track. Not only that, Busta wants to personally speak to us on the phone. As much of an honour that would be, we were busy eating dinner. Then the ‘popular on-line DJ pool’ is on the phone begging us to take down the track that they sent us, because, wait for it, Mister Cee was due to have it as an exclusive on Hot 97 tonight. Busta calls again and is sat by his PC, fuming as every second ticks by. Picture that. The dirty bugger was probably knocking one out to last week’s Freaky Friday post.

So we’re sorry to Busta for messing up his carefully crafted radio plot. With all the leaking Nas has done this week and let’s be fair, Busta has also been a protagonist of this hype-generating practice in the last few days, we got all confused and just upped the hotness for everyone to hear. We thought that was the idea of a leak.

We assume Mister Cee has now played his, kind of, exclusive and the New York public is now suitably vibed up and ready to illegally download Busta’s new album when it drops. We do apologise to Busta for the comments we made about him potentially bouncing to Koch when his album flops, through no fault of his own might we add. It was no reflection on his talent which he oozes in abundance and by all accounts ‘Blessed’ sounds much better than the Nas set. At least Busta does not advocate illegal file sharing, streaming or the like, unlike Nas who doesn’t seem to care. Busta, all the best with your album release. We will make a point of paying for a copy.
