Yeah Funkomart on Market ST. was definetly the spot Shamarone!! I walked from North Philly to Center City to get my fix!! Would spend my lunch money on a hip hop record but they were the underground sound 4real!! DJ Cash Money yeah a pretty humble guy in all this but I need to say many hip hop historians especially of the Philly variety care where the tranformer was invented and who did it!! I won’t go into that I can only say that my hopes is that one day Philly cats get their props 4 sure!!! And oh yes that 909 used to knock P.S.K would tear your damn wall down!!

omg, i saw tat-money spin at the spectrum in the philly vs. ny battle back in the mid to late 80′s. i think it was cutmaster DC he went up against. he straight annihilated the brotha. i was then i realized that he was basically jazzy jeff, cash money level. i had no idea. anybody here remember a place in philly called the “Funk o Mart”. i used to take the bus over from jersey to go buy break beat records there. you could buy a set of 1200′s there. flight cases. stanton needles. even a roland 909 (ny was the 808, but the 909 was a key intrument in the philly sound. they had everything.

Everything off the first 3 LPs from Steady B – so ill, so fat, so incarcerated, and Tat Money often gets left out of the loop of DJ Royalty but had skills for miles…
