Westwood Wednesdays #7

Here’s a killer double bill of vintage Westwood. It’s about that time for the LA Gear Rap Exchange where Westwood goes transatlantic to Marley’s palatial up state crib to blast off with a truck load of killer exclusives. This week we’ve salvaged an extra late-night Westwood session as a bonus but before that Marley and Westwood are joined by Roxanne Shante live in the studio. We hear Tim getting a little frisky with the Queen of Rox in the form of some inappropriate innuendo. Marley drops some absolute gems including what appears to be a very early Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth track called ‘C.L. Strikes Again’. We’re not sure if this ever surfaced properly but it’s amazing to think this may have been his UK radio premier. He also drops Biz Markie ‘Just A Friend’ as an exclusive. Our bonus this week has a classic break to beat version excursion as well as some killer cuts from YZ.G-Rock which after a fresh listen comes across as radically pro-Black for the time, Wrecks N Effect with their B.I.G. influencing ‘Juicy’ and what Westwood Wednesday would be complete without our favourite def row rapper Cool C. Enjoy.

Oh CL strikes again, I remember hearing that back then, I always thought it was called CL’s Back, no wonder I’ve never found it mentioned anywhere, but yeah, that’s the one! To my knowledge it never ever came out.

Any chance you could start to post these on MegaUpload or Rapidshare as single files in the future?

So, whilst most forums are full of people bemoaning rapidshare files and begging for Zshare, we get the opposite. Jesus. It’s free, take it how you get it. If we went to rapidshare, then you’d only be unable to download 1 part every 90 mins or so (we’re assuming you haven’t got a premium account), and if you’re on a shared IP address – i.e. at work – you might not get any down if other people are downloading. Zshare is free, unlimited and you can do multiple downloads. Or would you like us to hand deliver it to your house?

Don’t get me wrong i always used to feel the CL, Ace and Kane exclusives but don’t go sleeping on Marley’s Prince remix..

I can also remember some Marley heat from Whitney the Good Girls and Guy too – Hype indeed!!!!!!!!

uh..i don’t think Wrecks-n-Effect knew who Biggie was in ’89. In case you didn’t know “Juicy” is the name of the original song put out by the R&B group Mtume in 1983 & W-N-F were the first of a slew of artists using it long before Biggie but I understand w/ Biggie he made that song the best out of all them and that’s all people remember.
