YO! MTV Raps: Ed Lover Part 1

In what seems to be an endless YO! MTV Raps appreciation, we bring you an exclusive interview with former host of the show, Ed Lover. No, Puma aren’t paying us for this, but yes, the entire Fat Lace crew acquired some rather nice 22″ rims on all our whips.

This is just a teaser, we’ll drop the full interview next week where Ed literally sheds a tear whilst reminiscing about their seven year reign at Viacom HQ.

Check this out. An original copy of The Source on which Ed, Dre and Fab 5 graced the cover (March 1992):

MTV Source

Interestingly enough, this was the same issue in which a young Christopher Wallace went from Unsigned Hype to signed phenomenon. We can’t believe anybody would make fun of him being fat, especially The Source, we would never do that (click to expand):

Big Source

p.s. feedback always appreciated
p.p.s. we’re still looking for any early issues of The Source, if you have any, hit us up at fatlacemagazine@gmail.com
p.p.p.s. does anyone know what happened to DJ Hitman 50 Grand?

I heard 50 Grand the Hitman walked out on BIG days before he blew up and went to work on the Kwame comeback LP thinking it was a safer bet after he heard ‘party and bullshit’ and mistook the chorus for ‘party in bull’s shit’ and thought BIG was on some wierd poo/cattle tip. Big’s line ‘like kwame in those f*kin polka dots’ is a subtle dis to rub it in even more. PS did anyone get the kwame LP? What were 50 G’s cuts like?

not in the habit of justifying our actions but props to Slurg’s blog, we didn’t know he existed, but we try and post things with a unique angle and our own twist, as you can see we didn’t just post the magazine cover, we went out of our way to interview the dude too. slurg 4 eva, fat lace 4 eva

It’s all good, I was just kidding. Why should I trip over copyrighted material I don’t own ?

Plus, I’ve been a big fan of Fat Lace Magazine since day One (at least since the #1 issue, I never manage to find the #0) .
