Westwood Wednesdays #2: Sick Note

Tim is off sick this week although we reckon he’s skiving at home watching re-runs of ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’. Our equally adept stand in, John Peel OBE, drops some bombs on joints from Almighty El-Cee and Kay Gee The All. Damn, he was playing obscure classics when some of you random rap nerds were still getting your ass wiped by mummy.

This week we find Mr. Teenage Kicks frowning upon the jacking of Volkswagen insignia and even has a pop at Maradona. If only we hung on to the every word of modern day presenters like we did back then. This is gold, cherish it, the good times are gone forever.

‘We have risen’ was dope too.

I copped three sealed copies of ‘we have risen’ /’schools out’ for cheap a few years back on ebay, but I’ll sell one to a random rap collector for £300 if there’s any offers? You can have the mint one I opened for £200. I’mnot even joking, I do have sealed copies if anyone wants to trade it.

lol. makes me laugh how people think anything rare can be called random rap. Kay Gee The All, in particular, is not random cos we all know B-Boy records plus most of the stuff categorized as random I’SNT cos any real head knows it either from one of the hip hop electro comps or was lucky enough to buy it from Groove or wherever when it 1st came out. lol. ebay seller lists an MC Sugar Ray and Stranger D on Next Plateau ‘RANDOM’. Thats my say anyway-Peace

I was being tongue in cheek about that, I know what you mean, peoplejust put ‘random rap’ in the listing to hike the price up.

thanks for all your comments guys, we’re not really saying Kay Gee is random rap either, it’s just good hip hop and we wanted to share tracks like that being played in the context of the john peel show for people who are relativvely new to the game, these records have genuine history, they’re not just items you buy and sell for inflated prices. we think the last post we did was even funnier where Peel calls LL Cool J a misogynist. Enjoy and thanks again.

Big Tim gets a mention here. Just makes me angry reading the article and the comments. Who the fuck are you and what the fuck have you done John Plunkett, commenters?

Fu*k the Gaurdian, just imagine a life those reporters have, I bet they’ve never had the experience of playing tunes to thousands of people accross the globe or doing radio with Marley Marl so fu*k em, they lead a dull existence.

in fact do you think anyone would actually want to buy all my tapes ?
